Whittier serves as the port dock for Princess cruises bound for Anchorage.
It's located at the north end of Prince Rupert Sound and is cut off from Anchorage and the Seward Highway by mountains and a 2.5 mile single lane tunnel
that also serves as the access for all train traffic.
The small commercial district is spread out around the "New Harbor".
